Warhammer 40,000: In the most recent release, Tacticus reveals new Machines of War

Massive guns are one thing that Warhammer 40,000 has to offer, besides gloomy darkness and some very depressing British humor. Bigger is definitely better, whether it’s for the plasma guns, gyrojet bolters, or pretty much everything else the Tau are carrying.

It follows that the focus of the most recent update for Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus is the Machines of War. These new units, which have both passive and active abilities, will deploy off-grid and not participate in regular combat. Typically, they will be used as artillery.

Many of them, including members of the Tyranid, Chaos, and Imperial Guard factions, are shown in action in the teaser. It appears that we’ll be receiving a ton of additional choices for dealing harm to your opponent based on how they’re being used here.

The following game modes will support the machines: Guild Raids, Guild Wars, Arena, and Tournament Arena (certain restrictions apply).

large-scale equipment
The rather constrained scale of the arenas in Tacticus can be somewhat at odds with Warhammer 40,000’s emphasis on massive weapons of war. Naturally, having considerably larger tabletop units—like the Baneblade or Avatar of Khaine—as normal units would present some challenges, since they mostly appear as Raid Bosses.

The war machines, as they exist, provide a reasonable compromise. where popular tabletop weapons can be represented, however they must be introduced without interfering with the current mechanics.
